Each member brings their unique skills, passion, and energy to the stage, ensuring every performance is unforgettable. Get to know Roma, Paul B., Paul G., Pete, and Darren—five exceptional artists dedicated to creating the perfect soundtrack for your special occasions.

Roma Manteiga-Nicholson: Vocals

Roma Manteiga-Nicholson is an accomplished singer-songwriter from Ipswich, Suffolk, with a lifelong passion for performance. She began writing her own music at the age of 9 and quickly started performing across East Anglia.

Roma’s dedication to her craft and her community is evident in the over £22.5k she has raised for local charities through performances, album sales, and busking. Her impressive resume includes performances at major events such as Ipswich Music Day on the Ed Sheeran stage at just 12 years old, Felixstowe Carnival, The First Light Festival, and three consecutive years at Latitude.

Her original songs have garnered attention from BBC Introducing, and she released her debut studio album at 13. Roma’s versatility is highlighted by her experience fronting a rock band. Her passion for live performance, coupled with her vibrant energy and dynamic stage presence, ensures she creates an unforgettable atmosphere for every event.

Paul Burke: Guitar & Vocals

Paul Burke, a talented guitarist, producer, and composer from Colchester, Essex, is best known as one half of the acclaimed production duo Lost Tribe Music. His music has achieved over one million streams on Spotify, reflecting his skill and popularity in the music scene. Paul specialises in Lofi Hip Hop, Jazzhop, Synthwave, and Ambient music, with his tracks featured on major Lofi Hip Hop compilations by renowned labels such as Chilled Cat, Dreamhop Muisc, Jazzhop Cafe, Soothing Soundwaves, Good Vibes Only, Chill Ride Records and Amelia Grace Recordings.

Paul’s musical journey began at the age of 12 when he first picked up the guitar. His lifelong passion for music is evident in both his performance and his successful guitar tuition business, colchesterguitarteacher.com, where he mentors a select group of aspiring guitar and bass players.

Having performed at live events since he was 16, Paul brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role as band leader of 24 Karat. He is committed to providing exceptional service, responding to client inquiries promptly, and ensuring every event is unique and memorable.

Darren Nicholson: Keys & Vocals

Darren Nicholson has been passionate about piano and keyboards since the age of 4. While many children gravitated towards guitars and drums, Darren was drawn to the keys, captivated by the myriad of sounds he could create from one instrument.

Darren’s musical journey began with 14 years of private tuition, which honed his skills and fueled his love for live performance. At just 7, he started participating in musical competitions across the UK, reaching the national finals at Wembley in 1991 when he was only 15.

His diverse training in both electronic and classical music has equipped Darren with the versatility to play a wide range of styles. Influenced by bands like Genesis, Queen, Eurythmics, Prodigy, Faithless, and Black Box, as well as iconic artists such as Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre, Darren’s musical repertoire is rich and varied.

Since the age of 17, Darren has been a dedicated member of various bands, and his enthusiasm for live music has never waned. He loves creating an electrifying atmosphere for his audience and cherishes the camaraderie with his bandmates. Darren truly loves what he does, bringing energy and joy to every performance.

Paul Gladman: Bass

Paul Gladman is a seasoned bassist from Essex with a deep-rooted passion for soul and funk music. With over 20 years of experience performing in various bands across the Essex scene, Paul is a founding member of 24 Karat. His playing style is heavily influenced by legendary bassists such as Bernard Edwards (Chic), Marcus Miller (Luther Vandross), and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Paul’s love for music shines through in his performances, where he thrives on seeing the crowd enjoy themselves. His friendly demeanour and approachable nature help create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at events. Among his many achievements, his most notable moment was performing at Wembley Arena, where he had the honour of supporting UK Garage legend Ms. Dynamite.

Pete Collins: Drums

Pete Collins is a highly experienced drummer from Essex with over 30 years of live performance under his belt. Having played in countless bands across the Essex scene, Pete brings a wealth of expertise and energy to every performance. Alongside fellow band member Paul Gladman, he had the honour of supporting UK Garage legend Ms. Dynamite at Wembley Arena. His musical influences span soft rock, jazz, and funk.

As a founding member of 24 Karat, Pete has been with the band for seven years, contributing his dynamic drumming skills and infectious enthusiasm. His impressive career also includes a stint as a session drummer on a well-known British television show.

Pete’s passion for live events remains as strong as ever. He loves interacting with clients and takes pride in creating a lively and memorable atmosphere at every event.
