Frequently Asked Questions

11th February 2019 Band Information Hire Live Music Live Music News 0

As one of Essex’s most popular wedding and party bands, we often receive a number of questions from our clients in the run up to their event. Of course, we are more than happy to answer these, and we thought it would be helpful to list as many of the most frequently asked ones. If you have a question that isn’t on this list, or if you require clarification on any of the below, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll aim to get back to you as quickly as possible.

What packages do you offer?

We’ve updated our packages to include flexible lineups from acoustic/electric duos and trios to full 5-piece bands, with guide prices starting from £260 for parties/events and £400 for weddings. Details of all our packages, including tailoring options, upgrades like DJ service, and guide pricing, can be found on our Packages page. You can also download our brochure there for a comprehensive overview.

How much time do you need to set up?

We need between 1.5 to 2 hours to set up and sound check our equipment, depending on the lineup (smaller setups like duos take less time). As soon as our PA is set up, we start the background music to set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

What time will you arrive?

As part of our standard wedding and party band packages, the band will arrive no earlier than 5pm to begin setup. This can be later if more convenient, but please ensure at least 1.5 hours for setup and sound check.

For our premium wedding package, musicians for acoustic sets arrive no earlier than 11:30am to set up the PA (later if preferred). Additional band members arrive by 5pm for evening sets. If acoustic and full band are in different rooms, we’ll need time to transition setups.

We aim to be flexible—let us know your timings, and we’ll discuss options. Note: Parties finish at 11:30pm standard, weddings at 12am, with upgrades for extensions.

How much space do you need to set up?

Space varies by lineup: Our full 5-piece requires about 5×3 metres. Smaller options like duos or trios need less (e.g., 3×2 metres). We’ve fit into tight spaces before—let us know your venue details, and we’ll adapt.

Do you require a stage to set up on?

If your venue has one, great! However, it’s not required—we just need a flat, hard surface. Our setups are flexible for various lineups.

Can you set up the night before my event?

Unfortunately, we can’t, as high demand means our equipment is often needed for prior events. We’ll set up on the day as per your package.

How long do you play for?

For band packages, we perform 2 x 1-hour sets (or 3 x 40-minute sets). Acoustic packages include 2 x 45-minute sets (upgradable). Designed to keep guests entertained, with background music or DJ upgrades for gaps.

What time do you start and finish?

We’re flexible to fit your event. As a guideline for standard packages:

  • 5pm: Arrival and setup.
  • 6pm: Background music starts.
  • 6:30pm: Soundcheck.
  • 6:45-8pm: Background music.
  • 8pm-9pm: Set 1 (including first dance for weddings).
  • 9pm-9:40pm: Playlist or DJ.
  • 9:40pm-10:40pm: Set 2.
  • 10:40pm-end: Playlist or DJ (11:30pm for parties, 12am for weddings).

Timings can be adjusted—discuss with us. Additional charges may apply for extensions.

Do you have a list of songs you perform?

Our full repertoire list can be found on our About page. We do our best to keep it up to date every time we learn a new song. Note: Some songs are limited by lineup—* for male vocal packages only; ** not available in acoustic packages. Weddings include setlist choice; parties can upgrade.

How do I book the band?

Please fill in the form on our contact page or email us at 24karatband@gmail.com to submit an enquiry. Please try to give as many details about your event as possible such as location, timings, preferred lineup, and package. Our guitarist Paul will be happy to talk you through the details and provide a tailored quote.

Once happy to proceed, we ask for a non-refundable 10% deposit to secure the date, with the balance payable in cash on the night or via bank transfer before the event. Once paid, the date is yours!

Can I provisionally book the band/ Can I pencil you in?

Unfortunately, we don’t take provisional bookings due to high demand. We require the deposit to confirm. If you’ve enquired about a date, you’ll get first refusal if another enquiry comes in.

Do you have different lineup options?

Yes! Choose from acoustic/electric duos (£260 parties/£400 weddings), trios (£390/£600), 4-piece (£520/£800), or full 5-piece (£650/£1,000). All can be tailored—see our Packages page for details and guide prices.

Can you provide a DJ service before and between your sets?

We always play background music through our PA when not live. For a full DJ service (operated by a band member, with live mixing and requests), add it as an upgrade—details on our Packages page.

What is the difference between the set playlists of background music and the DJ Service?

Background playlists are pre-mixed party music (or your own) to fill gaps. The DJ service is live-mixed by a band member, taking requests on the night (subject to internet for access). It’s an upgrade for more interaction.

Can I see you perform live?

You can find a regularly updated list of our upcoming public performances here. We also keep a list on our Facebook page, which can be found here.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We learn and perform your first dance for free in wedding packages (subject to terms). Additional songs not in our repertoire incur charges for rehearsal—let us know, and we’ll quote.

Do you have lights?

We have a fully professional lighting rig included in your quote at no extra cost. See it in action on our media page.

What are your power requirements?

Please ensure a minimum of two double 13-amp supplies near the performance area (more for larger lineups).

What if my chosen venue has a sound limiter?

No problem—we’ve played many venues with limiters. Our setups include electronic drums and 4-piece options optimized for restrictions. Let us know in advance to tailor equipment.

Does the band have Public Liability Insurance and a PAT Test Certificate?

Yes, we have public liability insurance up to £10 million and an up-to-date PAT test certificate, carried at all times.

Do you have any recordings I can listen to or any videos I can watch of the band?

Yes, plenty! Visit our media page.

What are your guide prices?

Our guide prices vary by lineup and event type: Duos/Trios from £260 (parties)/£400 (weddings), 4-piece £520/£800, 5-piece £650/£1,000. See our Packages page for full breakdowns—final quotes are customized.
